CULTIVATING OUR CALL
Our BCDB venture has flourished, and every single grain of effort from our dedicated Brew Bakers stands as a testament to our commitment to inclusive excellence. Yet we are facing a critical barrier to expansion, our current space and funding limits our ability to serve the growing needs of our community.
Expansion is essential
Expansion is essential to growing operations efficiently, providing a vital service to the West Michigan community. Inclusive, accessible workplaces like BCDB, create meaningful work and provide valuable training and income for adults with IDD in our community.
Programs like ours represent a solution-oriented and financially sound antidote to loneliness, vocational training and unemployment. Without people with IDD in our workforce, our communities miss out on the reliable talent of millions of Americans.
AS WE PLAN FOR THE FUTURE
Recent trends indicate that – in the next 3-5 years – the IDD population will continue to increase (Center for the Disease Control and Prevention). While precise numbers are impossible to calculate, the overall demographic trajectory underscores a pressing need; communities like ours must adapt to and drive meaningful change. With these anticipated shifts, we envision increasing our current Brew Baker reach from 10% of the IDD community to impacting 20% of the IDD population in the Kent County.
